Simple Dangle Lampwork Earrings Tutorial

Simple Dangle Lampwork Earrings

These earrings are fun to make and fun to wear!

To make these simple dangle lampwork earrings, just follow these steps:

 Here's a list of what you'll need:

2 - 12 - 15mm lampwork beads (any shape or size)
2 - 8mm crystals, (bicone or round)
2 - 6mm crystals (bicone or round)
4 - Medium sized filigree bead caps (gold or silver) (Optional)
8 - Small sized filigree bead caps (gold or silver) (Optional)
6 - 2 or 3mm seamless round spacer beads (gold or silver)
4 - Small (1mm x 1mm) crimp beads (gold or silver)
2 - Large sized (2mm x 3mm) crimp beads (gold or silver)
2 - 2 inch wire head/eye pins  (gold or silver)
2 - 3 inch pieces of 7 strand nylon coated steel bead cord
(gold or silver colored)
2 - French earring wires with coil and ball (gold or silver)

Tools you will need:

Flat nose pliers
Round nose pliers
Chain nose pliers
Wire cutters, (not shown)
Crimp bead crimpers (not shown)

Step 1. Making the top part of the earrings.
String your spacer beads, medium filigree beads, lampwork beads and any other beads you'd like to add for your decoration, through the eye pin and begin to make your closed loop by bending the wire at a 45 degree angle with your flat nose pliers.

With your round nose pliers, loop the wire over one of the jaws of the pliers and complete the loop by taking the wire out and inserting the other side of the jaw of the pliers to make a complete circle with the wire.

Close the loop by wrapping the rest of the wire around the neck of the eye pin using your flat nose pliers to hold the loop, and the chain nose pliers to wrap the wire around the neck. Cut off any excess wire using your wire cutters.
Your wire looped beads should be as close to the same size as possible. Make any adjustments needed.
Step 2. Making the dangle part of the earrings.
Take the nylon coated steel bead cord pieces and fold them leaving one side 1/4" longer than the other. Crimp the top part so the fold will stay.
Loop the folded bead cord through the bottom loop of the top bead. String the large crimp bead through the bead cord, (both strands) and crimp close to the loop with your bead crimpers. Squeeze tight with your flat nose pliers.
String a spacer bead, small filigree bead caps and larger crystal onto the longer strand of the bead cord. String your small crimp bead and flatten with your flat nose pliers, leaving approximately 1/16" on the end. Squeeze tight so your beads won't fall through.
String a spacer bead, small filigree bead caps and smaller crystal onto the shorter strand of the bead cord. String your small crimp bead and flatten with your flat nose pliers, as you did before.

Step 3.  Attach your French earring wire to the top loop of the earring.  Your earrings are ready to wear.
This is a variation using rondelle crystal beads and slightly shorter nylon bead cord.

Another variation would be to use smaller lampwork beads for the bottom part of the dangles.
